The Wayne State University School of Medicine’s reaccreditation process by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education is under way. Our site visit is scheduled for March 8-11, 2015. We have launched our self-study in preparation for reaccreditation and this web site is our up-to-date communication tool about our progress.

03/7/15 LCME SITE VISIT - MARCH 8-11, 2015
A team of peer reviewers will arrive in Detroit on Sunday to begin the Liaison Committee on Medical Education’s comprehensive four-day survey of the Wayne State University School of Medicine.  The visit, which entails meetings with faculty, administration, clinical leaders and students and tours of the facilities, is the penultimate step before a reaccreditation decision from the LCME.

01/28/15 DEAN'S LCME TOWN HALL
Interim Dean Jack Sobel would like to invite you to an important Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, February 4th at 1:00-2:00 pm in the Margherio Family Conference Center in the Mazurek Education Commons.  Dr. Sobel will give opening remarks, there will be an update on the new research building (IBio), and our LCME Team will present important information you will need to know in preparation for the upcoming LCME Site Visit.  We look forward to seeing you at this important Town Hall meeting!


01/16/15 MOCK SITE VISIT COMPLETED!
Dr. Betty Drees, M.D., F.A.C.P, lead our students, faculty, staff and administration through a mock site visit to prepare for the LCME survey visit in March.  Thank you for your participation in the mock site visit!


01/09/15  LCME CONSULTANT VISITING WSUSOM
The former dean of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine will visit the Wayne State University School of Medicine campus Jan. 14-16 to conduct a mock Liaison Committee on Medical Education site review.  Betty Drees, M.D., F.A.C.P., is serving as a consultant to leadership, faculty and students in preparation for reaccreditation by the LCME. 09/10/14  LCME INDEPENDENT STUDENT ANALYSIS
The LCME Independent Student Analysis Committee has completed analyzing and producing the Independent Student Analysis report for the LCME. The report will be presented today at the Dean's Town Hall.


09/04/14 DEAN'S TOWN HALL
Dean Valerie M. Parisi, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., will hold the second of this year’s three Town Hall meetings on September 10 beginning at 5 p.m in Green Lecture Hall in Scott Hall.  The presentation will will discuss key developments at the Wayne State University School of Medicine and include updates about the LCME Self-Study.  The Town Hall is open to all faculty, staff and students. 09/02/2014 LCME INDEPENDENT STUDENT ANALYSIS
The LCME Independent Student Analysis Committee at Wayne State University School of Medicine, chaired by Jay Llaniguez, M.D./Ph.D. candidate, and Dr. Rob Guglielmo, M.D., designed and launched a Student Survey which closed in March 2014.  Since then, the committee has been analyzing the data and producing the Independent Student Analysis report for the LCME.  The report was presented to the WSU SOM Student Senate on August 24, 2014 and approved for release on September 2, 2014.  Dr. Maryjean Schenk, M.D., M.P.H, M.S., and Jay Llaniguez, M.D./Ph.D. candidate will be presenting the findings and the next stepts at the Dean's Town Hall on September 10, 2014. 

08/20/14 LCME CONSULTANT
The Wayne State University School of Medicine's LCME Steering Committee has selected a consultant, Dr. Betty M. Drees, M.D., F.A.C.P., to review the self-study documents before submission to the LCME and guide us through practice meetings (an abbreviated mock site visit) before the official LCME Site Visit.  Dr. Drees has served as the Dean of UMKC's School of Medicine for 12 years and has lead many LCME Accreditation Teams.  Her knowledge and experience will be of great value in our quest toward re-accreditation.

10/10/14 LCME LAUNCH DAY
The Wayne State University School of Medicine hosted an Open Forum on October 9, 2013 in Margherio Conference Center. LCME Secretariat, Dr. Barbara Barzansky, was on campus to discuss the LCME Standards, the Accreditation Process and host a Question & Answer session. CLICK HERE to view the presentations from the LCME Launch Day.
